HP Pavilion dv9207us (Pavilion dv9000 series) original specifications:

• Intel Core Duo T2250 1.73 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 533 FSB
• 1 GB RAM - maxed out to 2 GB
• NVidia GeForce Go 7600
• 120 GB HDD 5400 RPM
• 17.0" WXGA+ 1440x900 display
• Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG WLAN

The mainboard uses the Intel i945PM chipset according to Intel's website, is compatible with the 667 MHz FSB.  I'm going to go for the biggest and baddest processor I can find, the Intel Core 2 Duo T7600, 4 MB Cache, 2.33 GHz, 667 MHz FSB.

The HP Pavilion dv9207us has been through a lot.  It suffered failure from very aggressive gaming.  The keyboard had a broken spacebar.  The CPU fan started to make a very loud grinding noise.  And the original HDD failed.
